Christmas.

All right, so yes -- Christmas was lonely. But it wasn't bad!

My sisters sent me presents, which I didn't open until Christmas morning: Gourmet food ingredients, a t-shirt, my father's gold ring. I ate a sensible salad for lunch, but for dinner made turkey breast rubbed with saffron, rosemary, and black salt. I also made candied bacon, which should be illegal. (One of my LJ friends gave me the idea, but the search function here is rudimentary. Thank you, whoever it was.) I was going to make cookies but I decided that the bacon was enough challenge for my pancreas.

I took advantage of the Steam sales and bought Fable III (terrible in every way; I've already uninstalled it), Mass Effect 2 (awful control scheme, not sure if I'll finish it), and Psychonauts (annoying controls and camera, but the story is amazing), spending a total of less than $20 on myself. Played video games a lot, like way too much. I did get some drawing and writing in. The rewrite of ORTL is at around 12k words. The Genocide Man buffer stands at only one week, unfortunately. Have to work harder on that.

So I spent about four days without seeing another living being. I think that's a record for me. When I have four days off I almost always go to Mrs. Redhead's house, and of course there used to be my dogs. But I weathered this solitude pretty well, I think. As long as I allow myself to babble idiotically to every inanimate object in sight, I think I can remain sane. Between you and me, I think the couch has stopped listening.

At least I'll be with friends for New Years'. Hope you all had happy celebrations. :)
